Advanti Racing and Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team
Formula One is the ultimate test of engineering and driver skill. Every component of a Formula One car is designed and manufactured to be the best available at any cost. Lightness and strength are the ultimate considerations and this is where Advanti Racing's expertise in wheel design and manufacture pays dividends. Years of designing lightweight wheels to maximise vehicle performance makes Advanti the natural choice for Formula One.
After six successful seasons with McLaren Mercedes, Lewis sought a new challenge - joining the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS works team for the 2013 season. Lewis secured his first Silver Arrows podium in only his second race for the team, with a maiden victory following at the Hungarian Grand Prix. With a total of one victory, five podiums, five pole positions and one fastest lap, Lewis finished his first season for MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS in fourth place overall, with 189 World Championship points. 2014 heralded the dawn of a new era for Formula One - and a second World Drivers' Championship crown for Lewis. 11 victories, 16 podium finishes, seven pole positions and seven fastest race laps from 19 races saw him take the title after a season-long battle with MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS team-mate Nico Rosberg: culminating in a dramatic finale at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Highlights of a memorable year included fighting from the back of the grid to the podium in Germany and Hungary, plus a home victory at Silverstone.
After four years with Williams Nico was looking for a new challenge and, in 2010, signed with MERCEDES GP PETRONAS. Nico finished on the podium in only his third race for the team - repeating the feat in China and again at the Brackley squad's home race at Silverstone. On April 14 2012 Nico secured his first Formula One pole position and then, one day later, his first win at the Chinese Grand Prix. His next victory would prove an historic one at the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix - taking the flag exactly 20 years after his father Keke had won the prestigious race in the Principality. Nico finished his fourth season for MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS in sixth place overall on 171 world championship points, with victory in Monaco and Great Britain. In 2014, a season-long battle with MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS team-mate Lewis Hamilton saw Nico narrowly miss out on a first World Championship title after a dramatic season finale in Abu Dhabi. As runner-up, Nico claimed five race wins, 15 podium finishes, five fastest race laps and the inaugural pole position trophy - having claimed top spot on the grid no less than 11 times - from the 19 race calendar. Highlights of Nico's most successful season of Formula One racing to date included a second consecutive win at the Monaco Grand Prix, plus a home victory in Germany.
2015 W06 Hybrid
2015 marks the beginning of an evolutionary process for the cutting-edge Hybrid racing formula introduced for 2014. But the word evolution shouldn’t mask the scale of the change this represents: the regulatory requirements and opportunities, coupled with ambitious internal performance targets, mean that this winter has been as challenging as ever. The more stable the rules, the more innovative a team must become to deliver performance from each generation of racing machine. "From outside, winter might look like a rest time in Formula One. But this couldn’t be further from the truth”, explains Toto Wolff, Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport. “Long before the end of last season, development work on our 2015 car became the main priority. The winter months are the most intense, with everybody at Brackley and Brixworth working around the clock to prepare for the season ahead. Their dedication is inspiring. It would be so dangerous to rest on our laurels after 2014 – but none of us have any sense that things will be easier now. On the contrary, our motivation is as high as ever.
